Run for the Cure 2024

The Colorado Cancer Foundation (CCF) is Funded through generous donations, and a series of charity-based events, including the annual Eldorado Run for the Cure.

Now in its 45th year, the annual four-mile family-friendly run continues to grow, impacting the lives of patients, families, physicians, researchers, and medical students throughout Colorado.

When the run is complete, participants are welcome to enjoy catered food and drink, as well as beer by Satire Brewing and flavored water by Eldorado Springs, all of which are included in price of admission.

The 4.0 mile course begins and ends at the entrance to Eldorado Canyon State Park, with dramatic views of the surrounding countryside, followed by free access to the newly renovated Eldorado Springs Pool.

Happy Smackah

The Happy Smackah 5k is an untimed fun-run and or walk around beautiful Lake McIntosh in Northern Longmont. All event participants, excluding late registrations, receive a Happy Smackah event t-shirt. The event starts and finishes towards the West end of Dawson Park, close to Lakeshore Drive and Cove Court.

Stan Havlick never knew that with one touch of his rear bicycle wheel in the Pacific Ocean in 1992, a 17-year journey would take his front wheel to the West Coast of the Caspian Sea in Eastern Russia. Stan’s six coast-to-coast adventures took him across 19 countries, 11 states, three Australian provinces, and required over 20,000 miles of demanding and dedicated cycling, raising money for the Colorado Cancer Foundation.

Tucked into a remote corner of northeast Alaska, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) is a place where wilderness can be experienced on an epic scale, encompassing over 19 million acres. It is a place of discovery and adventure; a place for solitude; a place to be self-reliant and close to nature. There are no man made trails, parking lots or visitor centers. It is a place to view wildness in a unaltered environment and it is truly unique to anywhere on this continent.

Japan: From Monks to Monkeys

In April 2016, Colorado Cancer Foundation Founder and Vice President, Stan Havlick, and his wife Margaret Carew, traveled to Japan at the height of cherry blossom season. Together with Margaret’s family, the couple explored Imperial Park, the Geisha District, and Philosophers Walk. They also toured a Koyasan Shukubo Buddhist Temple, and took a sobering visit to the Palace Memorial Park in Hiroshima.
